The strategic direction of the National Building Professionals Register (NBPR) is determined by an Advisory Council composed of representatives from the building, surveying and engineering professions.

The NBPR is managed by the Registrar and supporting staff. As the NBPR is an Australian Institute of Building (AIB), a committee appointed by the AIB Council retains administrative oversight of the organisation.
