Individual's with a minimum of three years current experience in the building industry are registered at one of three levels and in one or more categories as follows:

Building Construction (Unrestricted or Restricted)
Building Consultancy	Building Control
Building Economics	Building Industry Services
Building Project Management	Education & Training
Property Management	Research & Development
Adjudication (for NSW only)

The levels are determined as follows: Level 1 (Building Professional) for persons with professional level academic qualifications; Level 2 (Building Associate Professional): for persons with paraprofessional level academic qualifications; and Level 3 (Building Technician): for persons with technician level academic qualifications.
